I Should Be A Psychic

Remember in the last post I said Matt was whispering thoughts of 4 wheelers to Connor?  Well I was right!

Matt and Connor went to Ryan's house on Sunday and these are the pictures Ryan sent me.  Now I know why Matt said he'd be happy to take Connor off my hands for a little while!

Matt reassured me that they did NOT go fast...they just rode around the front and back

We'll need to go shopping for a helmet to protect Connor's big head full of brains!

Apparently Connor had a really good time and just kept saying "Daddy ride, ride Daddy". The gray hairs are growing more and more everyday!  Matt couldn't stop talking about how much fun they had together and how he needed to get something they could ride on.  The two of them are double trouble and then add Ryan and Chase to mix, I'll definitely need a prescription for anxiety medicine!

Here We Go Again...

Once AGAIN Memphis is getting snow!  Schools closed early today, which meant Connor's daycare also closed early.  The drive home was not much fun, but I have to say it wasn't as bad as Ashley's and Caroline's.
Connor's nap at school was cut short today so he was in a FABULOUS mood when we got home.  He finally decided to relax on the couch and eat a rice krispie treat.

Could life be any better for this toddler?!

After he had enough of laying around on the couch, he decided to drive his cars around the house.  Up until today he hasn't been able to make the jeep go by himself, but today the light bulb turned on!  Now he is going to have to work on pushing the pedal and steering at the same time.  Needless to say, the jeep is now in the garage and will only be used outside.

It didn't have very good traction in the snow

I think Matt was whispering thoughts of 4 wheelers and dirt bikes to Connor.

Love my boys!

Schools have already closed for tomorrow, so Connor will be going to Yaya's for the day.  I'm going to attempt to get downtown to work...keeping my fingers crossed!

Connor's Busy Weekend

This was the first weekend in a long time that we didn't have plans and Matt didn't have to work.  To be honest, we almost didn't know what to do with ALL the free time! As always, Connor found something to occupy his time for most of the weekend.

Friday was my early day at work, so Connor and I just hung out waiting for Matt to get home.  While I was changing clothes Connor came in to tell me he was feeding Cooper.  So I gave him a high five and said thanks. Little did I know what I was about to see!

There was food everywhere...On the floor, in the food and water bowl!

I'm not sure if he was helping her eat it, but I'm just going to tell myself no he didn't

Ashley got Connor one of those magnetic coloring boards for his birthday, which has turned out to be one of the best things in our house. Somehow the crayons aren't staying on the paper anymore. So if you can't give him your undivided attention while he's coloring, he has to use the magnet board. It's a win win for everyone! He's other obsession this weekend was chap stick.

I think the reason he liked it so much was because he could put the cap on and off and then put it in his pocket

Who says chap stick is just for your lips!

Saturday morning we just laid around and relaxed, however, Connor decided that the house needed to be cleaned.  So he whipped out his yellow gloves and grabbed a brush and started cleaning!

Saturday afternoon we went out for a late lunch and swung by Uncle Chase's shop to see what he was up to.  It wasn't long before Connor started helping out!

Holding the impact gun for Chase

Fixing the tire

Practicing using the mower

Hopefully Chase will still have the lawn business when Connor is old enough to work...I know someone who will be needing a job!

Today Connor and I went to Kroger and then headed home to make most of the dinners for the week.  I think all of Connor's hard work earlier in the weekend wore him out! For the most part of today he just laid around on the couch.  We did make a quick stop at Uncle Ryan's to see what him and Matt were up to. All in all Matt and I had a relaxing weekend, Connor on the other hand will need another good night's rest!

Tomorrow Connor has a check up at the ENT to see if his ear infection has cleared and we'll be able to see if the tube is still in his right ear.  I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed for good news!

Good Luck Houston Pom!

On Wednesday night, Connor and I met Big Daddy at Houston High School to watch my nieces preform their pom routines.  Angelina is on the varsity squad and Brittany is on the junior high squad, both teams leave tomorrow for nationals down in Orlando.

The performances didn't start until after 7, so I was already pushing it with Connor being up after bedtime.  However, once the girls stepped out onto the gym floor there was a sparkle in Connor's eye!  He loved watching them do the pom routine, but he especially liked the hip hop routine.  (I think that was his favorite because he knew he music!)

He was concentrating so hard!

Their hip hop costumes were so cute!

Happy Birthday, Matt!

January is always a busy month with Connor's birthday and then Matt's birthday at the end of the month! Last night we were able to go out and enjoy a good time with friends to celebrate.  (Connor had a sleepover at Gigi and Big Daddy's)

We started with dinner at El Porton and I have to say the drinks were much better than the food.

Then we headed to Fox and Hound, however both side rooms were already rented out so we had to come up with a plan B because it was packed.  Plan B quickly turned into going to the Salty Dog, which none of us had been to.  I didn't have high expectations, but thought oh well it's better than nothing.  I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun we had!  They had an awesome band and then a great DJ.  We definitely stayed out past our normal bedtime of 10 and paid the price today. The music was so loud, my ears were ringing until noon today!

Matt had to work for a few hours this morning and then he was able to relax for the rest of the afternoon.  I decided that I would cook pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes, and asparagus (something I have been craving all week).  Then we had a carrot cake for dessert, Matt's favorite.

Connor was very eager to help, so I let him snap the asparagus (I had already cut what I needed)

It almost looked like he was praying for a piece of cake

Can you see the excitement?!

Of course he had to help blow out the candles...I hope he doesn't expect to do this on a weekly basis!

Happy 27th Birthday
We LOVE you!

New Look

I've been in the mood to change up the look of the blog and I was lucky enough to run across this post.  I have to say it was one of the easiest things I've done.  I usually get frustrated trying to do creative stuff on the computer because I can never get it just the way I want.  Sarah's post was basically a do it yourself blog header for dummies and you can't get much better than that!

Not only have I been wanting a new look for the blog header, but I've also been wanting a new hair style.  So I made myself an appointment for Saturday and now I'm on the hunt for the perfect hair cut.  I don't want it too short, but I definitely don't want the same ol' look.  Wish me luck!

2 year check up

Today Connor was scheduled for his 2 year check up.  However, we had to make a stop at my doctor first.  I could feel a sinus infection brewing and sure enough I had one! I didn't leave the doctor's office until I got 2 shots to help me feel better quicker.  Connor saw the shots and all he kept saying was "mommy ouch, ouch mommy".  Then we were off to Connor's doctor.

The first of the year is always fun at a doctor's office because you have to update your information by filing out a new form, add a two year old to the mix and it's even MORE FUN!  He was starting to get really antsy and was bossing the other kids around, so I decided to let him color with a pen.

What a pretty picture!

So proud of himself

Then he started to color on his hand and we were done!

The doctor was very pleased with Connor's vocabulary progression.  We've definitely come a long way! He did good letting her listen to his heart and lungs.  Then it was time for her to look in his ears and I always keep my fingers crossed that she'll see the two blue tubes.  The left ear looked great and then the dreaded words came out of her mouth "he definitely has an ear infection and I can't tell if the tube is still in place".  Nooooooooo!!!!!!!  So he now has ear drops, antibiotics, and benadryl (which he hates ALL 3).  Hopefully he'll be back to normal in no time (for the record, he didn' show any signs of an infection which is typical for him).
STATS:
weight 29.6 lbs (70 percentile)
height 34 in (45-50 percentile)
head circumfrence 51 cm (95 percentile)

***Side note: Potty training is going surprisingly well, only 2 accidents in the past two days
*** Side side note: It is once again snowing in Memphis and I'm offically OVER winter!
