On Friday night, Matt and I were lucky to have another date night. (Gigi and Big Daddy picked Connor up early from school and headed to the zoo for the afternoon) We met Ryan up in Arlington at Vinegar Jims for dinner. After dinner we all decided to head over to the BBQ Fest and walk around for a little bit. I ran into Miaya, she was there supporting her boyfriend who competes. It was such a cute little festival and the weather was absolutely amazing. However, since we are now one of those old married couples, we were home and in bed by 10:30...sad I know!

A Little Behind
I"m a little behind on updating the blog, but I hope to get back in the swing of things. Last week was my first week back to work since the surgery. Everything went well, excep I was just a little tired by the end of the day. On Tuesday I had my follow up with my doctor, she said that everything went well and that I seem to be healing great!
Since I'm behind on blogging, I'll have to go backwards to catch up. Last weekend we stayed pretty busy. Friday night, Matt and I went to eat at Houston's to celebrate our 3 year anniversary (while Connor stayed with Gigi and Big Daddy). Saturday morning Matt had to work, so Connor and I ran errands. I'm still not able to lift Connor, which means I'm very dependent on his mood!
Saturday evening we met Mimi, Grandaddy, Ms. Pat, and Mr. Jeff at the park. Connor had an absolute blast! After the park we all headed to Cracker Barrel for dinner.

Connor enjoyed showing Grandaddy everything
Look at the crazy hair!
As I took this picture, all I could think of was a broken arm or leg.
On Sunday, we had our class at church and then we attempted the movies. The Lion King recently came back to the big screen and I thought it would be a great idea to take Connor. First off, I had no idea that a matinee movie for three people costs $21.50!!! (Apparently I haven't been to the movies in a long time) The movie started and we were only 5 minutes in before Connor had to go potty. Then he had to go potty again and again. Finally on the fourth time I decided we were leaving! So we were only 45 minutes into the movie when we headed out, not to mention someone needed a nap.
The food shown was not included in the $21.50...

Healing {one day at a time}
A week ago I had surgery to remove an ovarian cyst. I had surgery done in May 2010 for the same thing, however this surgery was much more in depth. Since the size of the cyst was rather large, my doctor had to preform a csection. I completely under estimated the pain and recovery time. Surgery was at noon and I didn't get discharged from the hospital until 1 pm on Saturday.
Once I got home, I was in a lot of pain. Getting into our tall bed was awful, I dreaded having to get up to use the restroom. Basically for the last week, I've been doing nothing but laying around. Matt has become the chef, nanny, housekeeper, and nurse for the past week. I think it's been an eye opening experience for him, especially having to deal with Connor 100% of the time. Today is the first day that I've felt somewhat like myself. My follow up is next Tuesday and I hope to get a good report. I know I have a few more weeks of healing, but I'm looking forward to getting back to our normal life!
This should go without saying, but we couldn't have made it this week without the help of our family...thanks!

Just Another Day In My Life...
Below is a text message that I sent Matt last week. There never seems to be a dull moment in my life, especially with a two and a half year old!
He calls his Memphis football jersey, his football game shirt. (This is his "say cheese" face)

An Unexpected Family Reunion
This past weekend we drove up to Terre Haute, Indiana for a very unexpected family reunion. My mom and Roy were headed to a family reunion in Lynchburg, Virginia when they received the heartbreaking phone call that her brother had been killed in a tragic accident.
When my mom called me, I was completely shocked and speechless. All I could picture in my head was my loving uncle sitting across from me at breakfast a year ago when we were all in Atlanta for my cousin's wedding. Looking back, I definitely took that time for granted and wish I could go back.
The funeral was Saturday afternoon and the entire family came in town. It was good to see cousins and aunts/uncles that I haven't seen in years, however, I wish it would have been for different circumstances. Since my uncle was retired Airforce, he had a military funeral. The 21 gun salute made my heart stop and tears flow down my face, it was a very emotionally draining weekend.
This accident was a reminder that tomorrow is never a guarantee and not to take life for granted.

Cousins
About a month ago, my cousin and his family stopped in on their way to Florida. We all met for BBQ at my mom's and let the kids plays. He has a son, Garrett, who is 7 and a daughter, Chloe, who is 2. Of course the first 15 minutes were spent with Connor literally attached to my leg playing the shy game. After that he was good to go. It was a very hot August evening and the kids were drenched with sweat, but that didn't seem to phase them!
Sweet Chloe, she had so much personality
Garrett was trying to wrangle the two young ones!
Why is it that I spend so much money on toys...
and all he wants to do is play in the wind chime!
Garrett was the only one listening when we said "SMILE"
Then I got the look, the "I'm outta here, catch me if you can" look!

Germantown Festival
Last weekend we attended the Germantown Festival with Gigi and Big Daddy. We went first thing Saturday morning before it got crowded and before the day heated up. There didn't seem to be as many booths as there has been in the past, but we still saw some really cute things. There was one particular booth I was looking for, a winter hat for Connor, but it wasn't there this year...very disappointing! As soon as we walked up to the festival, Connor spotted the rides and wouldn't stop talking about going on them. I only had to tell him almost a hundred times that we would go after we walked past all the booths.
Could he look anymore pitiful???
Patiently waiting...
There was this sweet girl who helped him through the inflatable obstacle...bless her heart
Yes he is wearing boots with shorts, but I couldn't convince him to wear anything else!
He LOVED the swings!
No joke, this ride lasted more than 5 minutes
Then he tried out the airplanes
Not nearly as fun as the swings
And he ended his fun morning on the playground. After a tantrum of throwing himself on the ground, it was time to call it quits and head home for a nap.
