Family Time

This past weekend we were busy with family time!  Matt's brother, Reid, came in town with his new girlfriend, Chelsea.  On Friday night, Matt and Reid went to a visitation in Ripley, TN.  So the girls (and Connor) hung out at Yaya's house.  At first Connor wasn't very sure about Chelsea, but by the end of the night he was absolutely in LOVE with her!

Chelsea and Reid (See why Connor couldn't resist her?!)

This picture melts my heart! He ran up behind me and gave me a huge hug.

Up close and personal
(and no, that isn't a new freckle on his face...just dirt!)

Chelsea was so sweet...Connor couldn't resist her!

His favorite thing was to run down the hill and have Chelsea catch him (before he went into the water)...his face was absolutely priceless

On Saturday, we went to visit Gigi and Big Daddy.  They had gotten Connor a ton of clothes from a consignment place down in Mississippi.  Let's just say the boy will not need any jeans for the winter!  After we left there we went back to Yaya's house for dinner.  Marty, Amber, and Garner also came over and we all enjoyed a delicious dinner.

After dinner, Matt and Reid decided that they wanted to go fishing (in the backyard).  The catfish are HUGE and it's almost kind of sad how easy they are to catch.  It doesn't help that Yaya feeds the catfish on a daily basis, so they are basically like pets.

Reid and Chelsea (and Chelsea's new hip accessory)

This kid is definitely a Jones boy...look at him flirting! He just couldn't get enough of her

Garner is so good with Connor, she is extremely patient with him

Marty and Matt trying to get the hook out...the fish was hooked on the side fin, what are the chances???

Could he be any prouder??? (fish #1)

This is just gross...I didn't take anymore fish pictures after this one.

Are you hungry???

Connor's new nickname should be 'the sponge'.  It's amazing to see how many concepts he picks up on a daily basis.  He still doesn't talk very much, but he definitely mimics EVERYTHING we do!

Connor has increasingly become obsessed with his stuffed monkey.  Mr. Monkey has to sleep with him (he has his own blanket), goes downstairs in the morning, and apparently Mr. Monkey has a big appetite.  On Sunday, Connor all of a sudden grabbed Mr. Monkey and sat him on his tray in the living room.  Then he grabbed his bowl of rice and proceeded to feed Mr. Monkey with the fork.  I have to say it was one of the cutest things!

Connor couldn't figure out why Mr. Monkey wasn't eating the rice.

Since Mr. Monkey wasn't eating very much while he was sitting on the tray, Connor decided to move him to his recliner where he might be a little more comfortable.  Again, Mr. Monkey just wasn't very hungry.  (But someone else was!)

Once Cooper started cleaning up the rice, Connor thought he would be nice and make it snow on her.  Can you see ALL the rice on the floor??? Cooper did her best to help clean up, but I had to break out the vacuum cleaner

It's the little things Connor does, that puts a smile on our faces these days. (Oh my, life has surely changed!)

You'll Be Missed

Today is Carly's last day at work and we couldn't be happier for her and her new adventure. Ashley did a post that depicts the Carly we all know and love!

Good luck Carly, you will truly be missed!

Some days its just not worth the fight...

and today was one of those days!  I stayed home with Connor today because he was still running a low grade fever from Sunday.  I think he just has one of those awful summer bugs, hopefully it will pass quickly.  We had a good day together, but it was just one of those days where he was a little more whinny (which was understandable).

So when he decided that sitting on the coffee table was more comfortable than the couch, I didn't fight it.

This was 1 of about 20 times he decided to sit on the table.

And when he decided that he needed to wear the yellow cleaning glove, I said okay to that too!

I really have no idea what his obession is with gloves and shoes.

I bet that when winter comes, I won't be able to keep a glove on his hand to save my life!

I hope that he wakes up feeling much better in the morning, nothing is more pitiful than a sick child. (And I hope my other child/husband doesn't get it, they are equally as pitiful when they're sick!)

Road trip & Playroom

The older I get, the quicker the weekends seem to fly by! On Saturday, Caroline and I took a girls road trip to Aliceville, Alabama.  We went to visit Jodie before she has baby Mason (she is due in about 5 weeks).  We had a wonderful lunch at Mugshots in Starkville and I have to say their hamburgers are to die for!  After lunch we headed to Jodie's house to see ALL of Mason's baby gear.

Mason's room was so warm and inviting, Jodie has done an amazing job getting ready for his arrival.  Caroline and I helped Jodie by hanging some curtains in his room.  (Let me just say it's probably a good thing our husbands weren't there because we probably wouldn't have been doing it right by their standards.)  We had a wonderful visit and it was great to see Jodie so happy and glowing!  Now we can't wait to meet Mason and spoil him rotten.

Today I woke up in one of those moods where I was on a mission to get things done around the house.  I made blueberry muffins for the boys and then I started organizing.  Matt and I cleaned the bonus room upstairs and rearranged the furniture a little bit.  Then I had the brillant idea of moving Connor's playroom from the current location of the dining room up to the bonus room.  He never plays with the toys in the dining room so I figured what the heck at least they'll be out of the way.

Connor absolutely LOVES his new playroom!  You would have thought it was Christmas morning when we let him loose up there.  It was definitely a win win situation, I have my dining room back and he has his very own playroom.  Needless to say, I am exhausted now and feel as though I didn't have a weekend!

As you can see, he has already demolished the place!

So many toys he doesn't know which one to play with, what a life!

A grown up dining room with a hint of toddler!

I took the leaf out of the table to give us a little more room and to make sure a certain someone didn't knock himself out.

And because we were so busy this weekend, I didn't get one picture of Connor...I know I'm a horrible mom! So here's one from our way home from school last week

His teacher, Ms. Lauren, loves to do his hair.

Off to another work week...hope you have a great week!

Swimming & the Car Wash

This past weekend Connor finally had the chance to try out his fins!  He hasn't really been swimming in a pool, only in the bath tub.  I was a little anxious to see how he would act, just because it was either going to be good or bad.

We drove up to Covington (an hour away) to meet Aunt Cici at her house.  It was the first time I have seen the house since they moved in.  Last time I saw it, I was helping paint the walls.  She has done a wonderful job and the house is so cute!  Then we drove to Bebe and Pops farm (Caroline's grandparents), which was only about 10 minutes away.

The farm is so much fun and it is every boys dream place!  They have a house with a pool and ALL the toys you could think of (for the little kids and the big kids).  Caroline's Aunt Laurie (who has 5 boys and I have no idea how she does it!) and cousin (Bo) came out while were there. Connor loves watching big kids and Bo (who is 6) was so entertaining for him.  Connor had absolutely no fear of the water and he was like a little fish!

I know he doesn't have on a swimsuit, but what can I say...it was almost too hot to be swimming

Aunt CiCi and Connor

They were watching Bo do tricks in the water

These were the only swimming pictures I got because I quickly learned that swimming with a toddler is more stressful than it is relaxing.  Thankfully Caroline and Laurie were good about taking him off my hands for a little bit!

By the time we got home from swimming, we were in desperate need of a nap.  We both took a quick nap and then got ready for Yaya's house.  Matt and I were finally able to go out to eat with Chase and Cassie while Connor spent the night at Yaya's.  Once again he enjoyed her southern cooking and the fact that she caters to his every need/want.

Who wouldn't love a bath in the kitchen sink?!

I'm sure he is thinking "this is the life!"

On the way home from Yaya's on Sunday, Connor and I stopped in at the car wash.  I was a little nervous that he was going to freak out, but he loved it!

At first he was a little unsure about what was going on

If you think about it, the car wash is really a scary place for a toddler

But before long, he was loving it!

We had a great weekend! I managed to catch a head cold which hasn't been much fun, hopefully I'll be all better by the time Caroline and I take our road trip to Aliceville, Alabama!

18 Month Check up

Last week Connor had his 18 month check up.  Everything went really well, except for our 2 HOUR wait!  By the time the doctor made it into the room, I was about to loose it.  She could definitely tell I was more than just a little unhappy, needless to say the appointment went very quick!

Here's Connor pretending he was in a fort underneath all the chairs in the waiting room

Then he got bored of the fort and decided that the chairs could turn into a jungle gym!

Connor weighs 27.7 pounds (70th percentile) and he is 32 inches tall (35th percentile).  She said his ears looked beautiful, which was music to my ears.  Obviously the tubes were the right decision for him!

Instead of reading the Cat in the Hat, he thought it was more fun to drop it on the floor...do you see why I was getting irritated just sitting in there???

The one thing the doctor was a little concerned about was his vocabulary/speech. The words that he knows are Mama, Dada, Bye Bye, Hi, Ball, Bubble, Gigi, Yaya, Mimi, Balloon, Please, Uh oh and Night Night.  As you can tell the majority of those words are names.  We are going to try to work on his speech for the next couple of months and if it doesn't pick up we will have to go back for some additional tests.

Connor couldn't escape the check up without two shots.  Bless his heart, he was crying before the nurse even stuck him.  The upside is that he should be chicken pox free!  This was the first appointment where Connor could really remember what happened earlier in the day.  By the time we got home, he was walking with a limp (from the shots) and pointing to it saying "Ow we".  He was especially dramatic when I removed the band aid!

All in all we had a great check up and the best part is that we don't have to go back until he's 2 yrs old.  (Which is almost scary to think that he will be 2 in six months!)
