Christmas 2009

This past week has been full of events, so I'll try to recap...

Christmas Eve- Connor didn't have daycare and I had to work a half day, so Connor went to work at Morgan Keegan.  He did so good and I'm really proud of him! Robbie kept Connor pretty much entertained the entire morning.

Kristy absolutely loves Connor, so she didn't mind keeping an eye on him at work

He started to get a little restless, so we had to break out the candy cane...it did the job (at least for a little bit!)

Robbie discovered that Connor loved to sit in the rolly chair and ride...he would even hold onto the arm rests!

That afternoon, we went home so Connor could nap and I could start cooking.  After nap time, Mimi and Papa came over to open up Christmas presents.

That evening we went to my mom's (Gigi's and Big Daddy's house) for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner.  After dinner we open up presents and lets just say that Connor was completely spoiled (this is only round 2 of presents for Connor).

Rachel is so sweet and she is always on the flooring playing with Connor

Here he is in his Christmas pajamas...it's a bunch of sock monkeys

He ended up getting a monkey that went perfect with his pjs!

He's attempting to open a present, most of the time we had to open the presents for him

Bradley was being so good with Connor, even though Connor was trying take Bradley's present

Christmas- We had breakfast as a family and opened the rest of the presents under the tree.  Later in the afternoon, Gigi and Big Daddy came over to see what all Connor had gotten.  Then we went to Granddaddy's house to open more presents.

Day after Christmas- We woke up and went to the airport to pick up Grandpa (my dad), who was just in for the day.  Connor opened another present and spent quality time with Grandpa before we took him back to the airport that evening.

Grandpa got him a dump truck and Connor loved dumping the blocks and putting them back in...he must be learning how to clean up!

Sunday- Granny (Matt's mom) came over around lunch time and it was time once again for Connor to open presents.  She definitely went over board with the clothes and toys.  (I didn't get any pics of those, so I'll have to post later)

Then later that evening we went to YaYa's house to do our last round of present opening.  Connor always loves to go over there because he knows that he will get to play with Garner and that YaYa will fix a wonderful dinner.  Once again Connor was spoiled with presents and he just didn't know what to do with everything!

Now let's do a quick count...that means we have celebrated Christmas for the past four days, with a total of opening presents 7 different times.  We now have so many toys that I've had to convert our dining room into a play room!!!

See what I'm talking about?!?!?

Matt and I had a wonderful time this Christmas season being with family and most of all being a family ourselves.  We are thankful for everything we have and cherish all the memories of Connor first Christmas!

Christmas 2009

Connor you are 11 months (1 week) old

So things have been a little busy with the holiday, so I am late posting.

It's been a very busy month and you have accomplished so much stuff...
  • You are no longer on the bottle, only sippy cups for you
  • You are crawling everywhere and you sometimes go into turbo mode and take off!
  • You are pulling up and cruising around everything and anything you can find
  • You still only say "Mama" and "Dada", but you are starting to learn which name goes with who

  • You wear 12-18 month clothes, however some of those are starting to get a little tight
  • You still wear size 4 diapers
  • You have 5 teeth, 2 on top and 3 on the bottom
  • You weigh about 23 pounds
  • You've started giving kisses and blowing kisses
It's hard to believe how much has changed in the last year, but we are loving every minute of it!

Here comes Santa. . .

I cannot believe that it is almost Christmas! Like always, our life has been hectic (but in a good way).  Connor has learned how to pull himself up and we are definitely in for a new experience as parents.  He is so proud of himself! He'll pull up and then fall down and then start all over again like it's a game.

Connor got sick last week, which meant 3 days out of school.  He had another ear infection and bronchitis.  The antibiotics have been doing the job and he'll be going back to school in the morning.

Connor's other big milestone for the week is being bottle FREE!!! He has really taken to the sippy cup and I couldn't be happier.  I am a little sad though, because he isn't a baby anymore.  He looks like a toddler with the sippy cup and standing up all the time.  We started the sippy cup because he can't go into the 'ones' room at school being on the bottle.  So we can check that off our list!

This weekend we had several visitors.  Reid and Chrissy came in town for a quick weekend visit and we had a good dinner together last night.  Connor is really starting to interact with everyone and he loves big kids.  Garner will be a great babysitter when she gets older and she said she would watch him for free.  I'm sure she'll change her mind about babysitting being free...

Colleen was also in town this weekend and it was so good to see her!!! She brought Connor his Christmas gift early and he loves it.  It's a table that sings and lights up, perfect for any toddler.  We've heard the songs so many times, Matt has been walking around the house singing them!

The other big thing that we did this weekend was breakfast with Santa! Connor was sooooo good, he didn't cry (which I was really worried about).  The breakfast was a fundraiser for my niece's pom squad.  Connor had that whole squad of girls eating out of the palm of his hand.  They were ooooing and ahhhing all over him! I can't show you the picture with Santa because it is going to be our Christmas card for the year (so start checking your mailboxes).  Hope everyone else had a great weekend!

What a weekend!

Connor celebrated his first Thanksgiving and absolutely loved it!  When he saw the spread of food, his eyes grew about 2 sizes.  He was so good about trying everything, however we never have a problem getting him to try new foods.  Come to think of it, there isn't anything that Connor doesn't like.

Here he is shoveling the turkey in!

Can you see the turkey hanging out of his mouth???

Connor definitley needed a nap after his 1st Thanksgiving dinner.  This is his new sleeping position...I guess he is dreaming of crawling!

For the first time ever, Kristy (from work) and I had the brilliant/stupid idea of going Black Friday shopping.  Shopping for most people the day after Thanksgiving is some kind of rush and they have all day to it.  Not Kristy and me, we went shopping and then had to be at work later that morning! We accomplished our mission of getting an artifical Christmas tree for $50!  Thanks to Grannie (i.e. Lonnie), Matt was able to go hunting with the guys on Friday too.  Bless her heart, she was at our house at 4:15 AM!!!!

Later that day I came home and put the tree up.  Connor has had a few meltdowns since the tree has been up! We have been really trying to stress to him not to touch, which he doesn't like at all.  I purposely put the lowest ornaments 2 feet off the ground so there would be no temptations.

The tree turned out really well, especially since it was in the spot I wanted it in!

Here's the mantle...I guess the dogs won't have a stocking this year, since there is only 3.

See what I mean about the ornaments???

Other than that the weekend was relaxing and I have already gotten half of my Christmas shopping done!

Here's Connor practicing drinking out of a big boy cup.

He is starting to catch onto concepts so quickly.  This is Connor placing my sock on his foot!

Unforantely this is how our living room seems to stay now.  I can't imagine what it is going to look like after he gets all his Christmas presents!

Connor's starting to stand up and he couldn't be prouder of himself!

10 Months

Connor you are 10 months today!

Life for you has been changing so fast! There are some days that I feel like I miss something when I blink.  You've hit so many milestones, it's probably been the busiest month of your life.
  • You wear size 12 month pants and 18 month tops
  • You are still in size 4 diapers
  • You've started eating a "big boy" lunch at daycare, baby food just doesn't cut it anymore for you
  • You've started using a sippy cup, although it's not your favorite

Now we will move onto your major accomplishmentsfor the month...
  • You've started crawling! Not just a few scoots around the living room, you are a marathon crawler!
  • You've really started pulling up on everything and anything you can get your hands on
  • We recently got you your big boy carseat, which you absolutely love because now you can see out the windows
  • You still say Da Da all the time, but you've also started saying Ma Ma all the time too!
  • You've learned how to play with Baylor and you think it is absolutely halirious when he grabs the toy out of your hand
  • Last, but not least...you have 2 bottom teeth and your top two teeth could come in any day!

Life couldn't be going any better and we love you so much.  I can't wait to see what the next month brings us, especially since it will be the holidays!

Connor & Dog Food

So I have to admit that I have not adjusted to having a child on the move.  I'm so used to being able to put him in the living room and then go run an errand.  And when I would come back he'd be in the same spot.  Well life for me has drastically changed since he started crawling.  Usually Connor will just stay on the "magic carpet", which is the living room.  However, he has started to get a little bit braver everyday.

Earlier this week, Matt put Connor in the living room and I was cleaning up the kitchen.  All of a sudden, I heard something clanking not too far from where I was.  I turned the corner and to my amazement there was Connor.  Not only had Connor made it into the kitchen from the living room, he found something to eat.  He had positioned himself perfectly in front of the dog bowls.  He was eating dog food with Copper!  I had to fish out the food in his mouth and then pry his hands open to get the rest of the food. Needless to say, we have started to use the pack n play more often!

I should have known there was an early bond with Connor and the dogs!

(Unfortantely I didn't get a picture of Connor in the act of eating dog food because I was too freaked out to get my camera.  I'm sure this won't be the only time, next time I'll grab the camera first!)

A Whole New Ball Game

Just when I thought I was getting the hang of parenting, something changes!  It's been a week full of changes for us as a family.  Connor has discovered that not only can he crawl backwards, but he can also go forward.  We were going to go visit Granddaddy Wednesday night before he had surgery, so Connor had to come up with something new to impress him.  So I guess crawling is what came to his mind!  He has a new found sense of freedom and the dogs really don't know what to think of it.  I remember the day Matt said "I can't wait until he starts crawling!", well that day is here and I think he wishes he could take that comment back.  We are in the process of baby proofing and it is not an easy job!  Not to mention, I feel like the only thing I say these days is "Connor, no!".  He definitely doesn't like to be scolded...

If crawling wasn't enough to accomplish in a week, Connor has sprouted 2 teeth!!!  I was amazed how he used to gum all his food, now I have no idea what I am in for since he has teeth.  That kid can put away more food than you could ever imagine.  I may have to get a second job just to feed Connor and Matt!

As for the rest of the family, we didn't have accomplishments as spectacular as Connor.  However, we did manage to organize the garage so I can park in it!  Which might not be big to some, but it is huge to me.  Matt tackled the first round of leaves for the season and I definitely do not envy him! All in all, we had a good weekend and we always look forward to what our week will bring us.

Someone definitely had a rough day!
