Weekend Recap

This past weekend we were very go, go, go.  It all started Saturday around lunch time, Ryan came over and we all headed out to the Hunting Extravaganza at the Agricenter.  To my amazement, we saw a lot of people that we knew.  Apparently this was the thing to do on Saturday and it was even better when I found out that it was indoors!

Connor's favorite part was the live grizzly bear

Connor's best friend for the day was Ryan

Serious conversation with Dad (he no longer calls Matt "daddy", only "dad"...very sad!)

On our way home, we couldn't figure out what to do next until Ryan suggested going to Chuckie Cheese and that's all Connor needed to hear!  When we got there it wasn't too busy, but that quickly changed.  I was in sensory overload and there were kids running around everywhere.  After Connor cashed in his 530 tickets for a ball we could have bought at Target for $2.99, I was ready to go home.

Trouble, Trouble, and Trouble

Later that evening we went to the shoe store in search of the perfect pair for Matt.  Of course Connor picked out a pair, but after explaining to him that the Dora shoes were for girls we put them back on the shelf. (He was not a happy camper)

On Sunday we went to church for our Dave Ramsey orientation.  My step sister has been raving about this for the past couple years and we decided it was a good thing to do.  After church we went to lunch and ran a bunch of errands.

I hope this week goes as fast as last week!

Sunflowers

The sunflowers are in full bloom around the Memphis area (Germantown Parkway and Walnut Grove to be exact). My mom has been hounding suggesting that I get Connor out there for pictures before the sunflowers died. I agreed, but I was not looking forward to dealing with the heat.

When we got back from New Orleans, I decided that I would take Connor first thing Sunday morning to try to beat the heat. Well I made it there first thing, but I did not beat the heat. It was SO HOT that my camera kept fogging up and the attention span of my 2 1/2 year old was not very long. Here's what I got. . .

The Big Easy

Matt had to go down to New Orleans for work and asked if I wanted to go.  After a few hours of making sure everyone's calendars coincided (Gigi's, work, kennel), I said yes.  I was looking forward to a relaxing weekend out of Memphis.

We left Thursday afternoon and we were able to beat rush hour traffic out of Memphis.  It was pretty much smooth sailing all the way down.

Matt had a meeting first thing Friday morning, so I took advantage of the alone time.  There was a mall right across the street, which was perfect!  I walked around the mall for awhile and then walked down Canal St.  After almost sweating to death, I decided to call it quits and head back to the room.

Once Matt got back from his meeting and lunch, we headed back out to the Riverwalk.  I ended up finding a pair of cute flats (and it was tax free weekend)! We also enjoyed an order of beignets from Cafe du Monde.  Then it was back to the hotel to get ready for dinner.  In the meantime, it started to pour down rain which was nice because it cooled everything down.

We enjoyed dinner at Bourbon House and then strolled down Bourbon St.  I haven't been to New Orleans since my college days when the Memphis Tigers played in a bowl game.  Times have definitely changed since then for me!  Now that I'm more grown up and have more responsibility, Bourbon St. just isn't the same. . .

We had a great time and we were home in Memphis late Saturday afternoon.(Thanks Dennis!)
